In this post, I told you about working with The Alpine Adventure Agency to come up with a photography workshop that combines an amazing vacation, an incredible package chock full of lots of adventure, and an educational workshop that could only take place in the Italian Alps.
Well, everything has been organized and laid out by Daniela Anderson, owner of The Alpine Adventure Agency, and we’re ready to reveal all the details. But before that, let me tell you how I came up with our exclusive workshop program.
- It was important for me to first educate you about determining composition and posing. For many who attend this workshop, these segments will be very interactive. I encourage ideas on posing from anyone and everyone, because having interaction means you are getting involved.
- There is so much packed into the lighting element, that it will just spin by. But I’m so excited about this part because there is so much to work with in this beautiful environment.
- Finally, we’ll start to pull it all together by using new angles, exploring the camera settings and giving you a chance to apply everything you’ve learned in an unprecedented portrait session with a beautiful Italian model… who, by the way, will be accompanying us EVERY day of the workshop.
Now, on to the details. Daniela Anderson is a wizard at planning exotic vacations, many of which have also included workshops in the arts and crafts arena. And so rather than me duplicating all her efforts, I’m just going to refer you to the page she designed which outlines not only the workshop elements, but all the other details about this fabulous Italian vacation.

It’s a great vacation, with plenty of value, fun, and food. AND you get a great workshop, an awesome location, and did I mention the food?
Have you ever met a force of nature? Someone who is everyone’s friend right from the start? This young lady is one of those people. Energy to spare, and fun!

“Little Paula”, as I’ve always referred to her, has been a client of ours since she was a wee dancer. Her mother has become something of a fixture at the dance studio, too, and was on hand as we created Paula’s senior portraits.

I have, for all intents and purposes, known Brittany since she was born. Her mother’s eldest daughter and my daughter, Jessica, were best friends growing up. When Brittany was born, I saw her a few times. But there was at least a twelve year gap between then and now.
She’s grown up a little.

Yet another referral, this time from our friend Kristen.
Soft spoken at first, Samantha warmed up to us and we started doing some really nice work with her. She has really pretty eyes and a dynamic smile.

Sarah came to us, more or less, by referral from a senior from last year. Sarah has a love for horses… everything horses. We went to the family farm for some of her images, and it was a beautiful place to take pictures, and with (you guessed it) horses.

Another family I’ve known for several years, through dance primarily. A great family with an amazing dynamic between all of them. Cameron is a lot of fun, smart, witty and it really shined during his session.

As posts go, engagement sessions are usually 2-3 images along with my cunning repartee. This time, though, I’m posting all of the images from the session. I first met Michelle many years ago in her high school days, only briefly. I’ve known her step-mother a little longer due to the dance studio portraits we’ve taken for her… well, I won’t bore you with the family dynamics. They’re just great people.
And so are Michelle and Sean.
There are unique weddings, and then there’s Julie and Matt’s wedding. From the sailcloth tent and the most unique dress I’ve ever seen, to most unusual favors and a sunset to die for… this was a wedding like no other.
A little history… we first met Julie’s family many years ago when Julie was in high school. We had taken some awesome sports action photos of her as a softball pitcher. Her mom later asked us to come to their Bunker Hill farm to take some images of Julie with a family favorite horse. Many years later, her mom contacted us and it was almost a natural. I kept in close contact with Julie throughout. She was a wonder to work with, and I could not have asked for a more perfect wedding hostess.
