For the family

Sometimes you bring your family for photos, and you end up with an experience like no other.  The kids take over, the dog explores places you didn’t know existed, or a funny story breaks out.  The McKinney family had a great deal of personality… you can see it here.

The Martin Twins

We’ve had the pleasure of meeting a lot of twins over the years… from newborn through adult.  And certainly the most interesting thing about twins is how they interact, and how different they can be.  These two were funny, fascinating and we had a great time with them and mom.

Angela and Jared got engaged!

We met them in nearby historic Harpers Ferry.  Diana went with me on this one.  She not only helped, but also took a few of the shots (one is below).  It worked out well, and they bought me an ice cream when we were done!  Looking forward to their wedding in April 2011. 🙂

Senior: Tara

Tara and her mom had photos taken at the school, but were less than happy with the results.  The biggest complaint seemed to be that they didn’t take enough time making sure that the results were going to be the best.

At TLC, we call it “cookie cutter photography,” and what that means is that everyone is treated basically the same as any other senior.  Same lighting, backgrounds, an approach to their images.  Quick in and out, keep the line moving.  It’s not the way WE work, because we allocate plenty of time for each senior… and sometimes we go over that. 🙂

We had a great time with Tara, and her mom.

This is the more playful side… she was happy about putting her feet up on the furniture. 🙂

Senior: Ashlyn

First, a story.  You like stories, right?

Ashlyn came to one of our senior consultations, along with her mom.  Most of our seniors come to the consultation to get information about our process, how we work, and to learn what makes a great portrait.  We also show them around our studio so that they can get ideas for their senior portraits (or just rely on our creativity with them, of course).

Well, there was also another senior at this consultation; a young man, from a different school.  He was pretty animated, and we also discussed a couple of special images he wanted to create.  In all, we had great fun and everyone left looking forward to their senior portrait sessions.

What we DIDN’T know was that once Ashlyn left, she went looking to find out more about this young man (isn’t Facebook a great tool?), and was determined to find him.  And she did.  And now they are dating.  And I think it’s just another happy thing that happens in our studio.

Please note: We aren’t starting a dating service.  This was just fate at work, we think.  Or one very determine young lady. 🙂

It should be said that Ashlyn, who wears glasses, was not so sure about taking them off for photos.  She’s worn them and likes wearing them and prefers her face with glasses.  When we convinced her to take a few without glasses, she was very pleased with the results.

She’s also quite lovely with the glasses… beautiful smile.

Senior: Kortney

Originally, the focus was on her athleticism (quite the volleyball player; witnessed myself not long ago).  But once we really got right down to it, Kortney wanted something more reflective of her personality.
