Senior: Kellyn

Here’s an interesting character.  Feisty, mouthy and funny… and that was just in the two hours for her session.  We got along great, and her mother was a real hoot, too.  This is actually from last year, and Kellyn is now in college, but I couldn’t resist posting one for her.  We still trade barbs on Facebook. 🙂

Senior: Victoria

When a senior says that they have a musical instrument they would like featured in their portraits, I get a little excited.  Props that define someone are a great way to create a portrait that will be treasured forever.  Victoria’s passion for her music made a distinct difference to her session and her images.

Senior: Zach

Here’s an interesting personality.  It didn’t seem to matter what we threw at Zach, he was game for anything.  And the greatest thing about that is it opened up a lot of fun moments.  We photographed Zach’s sister, Brie, a couple of years ago, and while she was also interesting (extremist sense), Zach tore down any walls there may have been. 🙂

Senior: Tyler

I’m constantly reminded of how different each person is that comes to us for anything… not that I need reminding, but when the creative energy starts flowing, it seems like the differences are what make it so much easier to pull something together.  Tyler truly personified that creativity.

Remember when…

… I would blog 2-3 times a week?

It was pretty regular, too.  Sometimes 2-3 times a day!  Oh, yeah.

But I got behind, and busy, and didn’t have as much time to do it anymore.  And I still don’t.  But you will start seeing them again soon.  The best reason I can give you for why you will see them is because I have been asked to do so. So, here goes…

First, before I start in on blog entries for the sessions, weddings, and more, I have a couple of new projects we are getting ready to roll out.  Both take full advantage of the fact that we have a super, large studio with state-of-the-art facilities and lots of space.  Having a studio gives us a unique opportunity to create new stuff that we sometimes can’t do on-location.  Once we’re ready to reveal them, you’ll know what I mean.  One of the projects has been in the works for about twelve years, and the other going on three years.

Happy Birthday Shaftora

Some news items for you, too. Diana’s birthday is November 6.  Please feel free to wish her a happy birthday. We won’t be at the studio on her birthday (it’s a Sunday), but will be all this week thru Friday.  She likes purple, Scottie stuff, and sugar-free licorice. 🙂  We will also be closed on Saturday, November 5 so that we can celebrate her birthday in style.

Thanksgiving Turkey

There are really no holiday cutoffs this year.  However, if you want your print products for Christmas gift delivery, they need to be ordered by December 17.  A few items should be ordered earlier than that, such as books.  Please ask if you aren’t sure.

The studio will be closed for Thanksgiving and the remainder of that weekend.  We’ll reopen on Tuesday, November 29. The studio will be closed for Christmas and New Year’s from December 24 through January 2.  As always, we will be happy to try to accommodate your holiday portrait requests during those times, but we won’t be at the studio for you to pick up or place orders during those dates.

Model calls.  We have three model calls coming up.  One is for a model for one of the two projects I discussed above.  We have one model already, a young lady we have photographed before, but we’d like to have another to kind of round things out.  The next is for newborns… this is not specifically a model call, but we have changed a lot of things about our newborn photography, and we welcome anyone whose had a baby, and who is no more than ten days old, to contact us about getting a complementary session.  The last is for next year’s high school seniors (Class of 2013).  Senior models get two full sessions, free products, cash, and discounts on their future orders.  For any of these, email me or call 304-263-3100 and talk with us (or just leave a message).

I think I’ve said enough for one email.  Hope you’re looking forward to the new blog entries as much as I am.

Senior Model 2012: Rachelle

Rachelle has such a classic look, it was so easy to work with her.  We enjoyed a very special moment during our first shoot together, when a friend of hers showed up and had a reunion moment; yes, caught on film.

Rachelle attends Jefferson High School, and we photographed her brother’s senior portraits two years ago.  We’re looking forward to continue working with her this season.

Senior Model 2012: Nicole

Like so many of our best clients, most people come to us because they know someone who is already our client.  Nicole, who attends Jefferson High School, came to us because her mom got some headshots done awhile back.  We also did some restoration work for her.

Nicole is a very self-assured young lady, and we can’t wait to show you some more of her images… it’s going to be a great year!

Senior Model 2012: Samantha

When we first meet most seniors, they are a little bit shy and reserve; not Samantha. She acted like she’d known me for years.  And maybe she has… but it almost makes no difference.  Her happy go lucky personality is so endearing (and contagious) that you can’t help but like her almost right away.

Samantha has been asking about seeing her photos since day one, even adding “my grandma wants to see them, too!”  I accused her of pulling the “grandma card” on me.  But here’s the first, with many more to come.  Hedgesville High School will never be the same. 🙂

Senior Model 2012: Mari

Here’s an eye-opener for ya.  We photographed Mari’s older sister, Michelle, for her senior portraits some 13 years ago.  That’s right… now we’ve come full circle with another great family.  But how I met Mari is kind of funny, too.  Michelle told me to say “hi” to her sister Mari for her when I was going to take Jefferson High School softball pictures last year.  I went up to Mari and said “your sister said to say ‘hi’.” After a bit of a cross look, Mari (who is also nearly six feet tall) asks “how do you know my sister?” <gulp>

Recently, during one of Mari’s sessions, we agreed I was an okay guy, despite me being a “near-creeper” when we first met.  Can’t wait to show you more from Mari’s sessions, but for now we have this little intro.

Senior Models 2012: Kayla

I guess you could say that I met Kayla first as a dancer, and have known her for awhile.  But Kayla moved on to other interests, which includes cheerleading for Martinsburg High School.  She has a persistent smile, so I’m sure that helps.

One thing that is familiar among many of this year’s models is height.  Kayla comes in at just under six feet tall, which always makes for an interesting opportunity in street-level shooting.  In the studio, we just made her sit down. 🙂

You will be able to see more of Kayla’s (and all our senior models) images on our Facebook page.  You can learn more about our senior portraits on our website.
